The PromiGenSM Platform is based on the highly popular Genesis Framework, with added proprietary capacity to customize the look and feel of the site and enhance functionality.  This allows us to create a highly stable, extremely flexible online presence with as much of its own "personality" as you care to add.  With rare exception, this is expected to be the platform of choice for future client site development here at Digital Prominence. 

The Genesis Framework core of the PromiGenSM Platform is built around the WordPress system.  You may be familiar with WordPress -- it's the preeminent blogging system in use today.  While it has always been possible to build websites using WordPress, the Genesis Framework (developed by the people who created WordPress) takes this ability to the next level.  Search engines LOVE blogs, so building a website with characteristics of the number 1 blogging system gives them a definite advantage right out of the gate.  Digital Prominence purchased the most comprehensive Genesis developer's package available.  This gives us (and therefore, YOU) full access and rights to all Genesis components, now and into the future.  This includes all current and future Genesis themes, which are the "base themes" used by the PromiGenSM  Platform. 

The design & development of a PromiGenSM Platform website begins with the selection of one of these base themes.  In the early stages of the design phase, we'll pick one of these as a starting point for your PromiGenSM website.  The PromiGenSM Platform goes beyond Genesis by adding client-specific customization on top of the base themes.  This customization can include changes to the theme's look & feel elements, integration of functional modules (forms, surveys, blogs, photo galleries, shopping carts, membership sites, Google sitemaps, etc), as well as other client-specific customization.  Naturally, the less customization is required, the less development will cost.  But even with rather extensive customization, development of a PromiGenSM Platform site will cost significantly less than development outside of the platform.

The PromiGenSM Platform is Highly "Widgetized"

PromiGenSM takes full advantage of Genesis' "widget" capability, and expands this capability even further.  Widgets are a quick and easy way to add powerful "plug & play" functionality to your site, with very little coding.  We can use simple widgets to add sidebars, social media sharing buttons, your latest Twitter "tweets", and much more.

A Peek at the Platform Themes

We've assembled samples of all the current base themes so that you can get an idea of the diversity of starting-point themes available, and perhaps even identify one or two favorites that you might want to consider for your own PromiGenSM website.

As mentioned above, the PromiGenSM base themes are all attractive & highly functional, and some folks will elect to use them pretty much as they are. 

But to give you a little insight into the level of customization that can be readily applied to any selected theme, consider this real-life case study:  Autotronics.

Autotronics is an auto repair shop in Oviedo, FL.  The base theme choice for their website was the "Corporate" theme.  But we wanted to create a website header that reflected their brand, and we wanted to use the brand's particular blue/yellow color scheme throughout the site (Digital Prominence developed the brand and all images for Autotronics as well).  Here's the "before & after" showing the original "Corporate" theme and the current (in-progress) customized Autotronics site:

As you can see, the customized Autotronics site has an entirely different "look and feel", when compared to the base theme.  What you can't see is that the effort it took to do this customization was a lot less than you might normally expect.  That's simply the nature of the PromiGenSM Platform!

The most important thing to look for when selecting a base theme is the general layout of the pages.  That's definitely something we will talk about in our initial design discussions.  We'll try to select the best theme for your needs & desires right from the beginning, in order to minimize the amount of customization needed.  But we can always change the theme selection later, if we decide it's necessary or desirable.  There would be no charge to simply change the theme.  If any customization has been done when you decide you want to change the theme, some of the customization may be directly transferrable without change.  Some of it may require updating, and some may need to be done from scratch to fit the new theme.  Regardless, you'll still save considerable development costs, compared to what it would cost you to change the basic design of a conventionally-built website.
